Feb. 19 – DEPARTURE Your journey begins when you depart the USA on your overnight international flight.
Feb. 20 – ARRIVAL Welcome to the Holy Land! Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and a good night’s rest.
Feb. 21 – INTRO TO JERUSALEM Today, you will be introduced to the Golden City of Jerusalem! Start the day on the Mount of Olives for a worship service, where you can take in a remarkable view of the city. Walk down the Palm Sunday Path to the Garden of Gethsemane where you can pray among the olive trees as Jesus did, the night He was betrayed with a kiss. Learn about the Jerusalem of Jesus’ day with a look at the First Century Model of the City of Jerusalem, now housed at the Israel Museum. The museum itself contains 10,000 years of archeological artifacts, as well as the Shrine of the Book exhibit that displays the Dead Sea Scroll containing the book of Isaiah. Nearby, view the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament before returning to your hotel.
Feb. 22 – JERUSALEM Pray alongside the Jewish faithful at the Western Wall. Also known to many as the “Wailing Wall,” this section of Herod’s Temple Mount retaining wall is adjacent to the former Holy of Holies. Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, with its poignant exhibits honoring the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust.
Feb. 23 – FROM THE COAST TO CANA Make your way to Caesarea Maritima, the port city of Herod the Great on the shores of the Mediterranean. Explore the extensive ruins including the Roman aqueduct and theater. It was here that Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Stand atop Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of ba’al, which overlooks the Jezreel Valley. Stand on the Mount of Precipice to view Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. On this mount, an angry crowd from the synagogue attempted to throw Jesus from the cliff. In Cana, recall the first miracle of Jesus at the Wedding Feast where Jesus turned water into wine.
Feb. 24 – MASADA & THE DEAD SEA Travel south to Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress of Herod the Great, which is famous as the last stronghold of the Jewish Rebellion against the Romans. Take the cable car to the top and peer down at the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Next, visit the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, where you can float in the renowned salt & mineral laden waters.
Feb. 25 – JERUSALEM On Mount Zion, beneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, you can walk through some of the ancient rooms of the house belonging to Caiaphas the High Priest. Many believe that Jesus was held overnight here before His crucifixion. Enter the nearby Upper Room in remembrance of the Last Supper. Enter the Jewish Quarter of the Old City via the Zion’s Gate and explore the Herodion Area. Visit the Southern Wall Excavations, including the Hulda Steps and the many Mikvahs at the foot of the steps.
Feb. 26 – JESUS IN THE GALILEE Follow the Good Samaritan Road through the Jordan Valley north to the Galilee region. Stand on the Mount of Beatitudes overlooking Lake Kinnereth and recall the Sermon on the Mount. Explore Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee. Stand in the ruins of the synagogue built on the remains of the one where Jesus taught. Sail across the Sea of Galilee together for a special time of worship on the water. Enjoy a St. Peter’s Fish Lunch (included) then gather at the River Jordan, where you can remember or renew your baptism.
Feb. 27 – JERUSALEM Walk a portion of the Via Dolorosa (the Way of Suffering) and recall how Jesus carried the cross for us to Calvary. Enter the Church of St. Anne where you can lift your voice in praise in its wonderfully acoustic sanctuary. Nearby, see the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath. See the Ecce Homo Arch which is associated with the condemnation of Jesus by Pilate. Reflect on the agony of the crucifixion at Gordon’s Calvary and then celebrate the glory of the resurrection at the Garden Tomb, where you’ll be able to share a special communion service with one another. After dinner, transfer to the airport for the journey home.
Feb. 28 – RETURN Return home with a transformed faith and memories to last a lifetime!
